What’s happened:
(HWB1) Every child born in New Orleans will receive free home-nurse visits, connecting parent and child to well-being resources, through the evidence-based Family Connects program run by the New Orleans Health Department.
$1.5 million over 3 years from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) + Philanthropy, pending City Council Approval
What’s moving right now:
(HWB1) Initial inventory of parent services/programs completed to inform analysis for coordinated growth
(HWB5) Emerging research with psychiatrists to inform development of protocols for youth mental health field, launched by IWES
(HWB5) Ten Black-identifying New Orleans high school students to participate in Courageous Conversations for Health Equity to inform health systems improvements, hosted by MHSD and CYPB with funding from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and IDEO
(HWB5) The New Orleans Behavioral Health Council, reconstituted by MHSD, launches a Youth Pillar led by CYPB and IWES that has placed YMP solution HWB5 in its strategic plan to address and complete by end of 2024
