Youth Artists
We are young artists (ages 14-24) amplifying and making meaning of the New Orleans Youth Vision through creative expression. We use our talents and skills to tell the story of New Orleans Youth, by and for us.
About The Project
In June 2020, a group of 100 young people from across the city gathered online to Flip the Script on the dominant, false narrative they consistently saw and heard about New Orleans youth. They named this new and true narrative, or Youth Vision, after who the children and youth of New Orleans are.
To commemorate the 4th anniversary of the narrative take-back that kicked off the New Orleans Youth Master Plan, a call went out for young artists to create and/or contribute original artwork that expresses a part of the Youth Vision.
A Youth Selection Committee created the scoring tool, reviewed submissions, and selected the finalists, each receiving a $500 award.

Cast your vote for the artwork that best amplifies the Youth Vision! The winner in each age group will be announced at the end of Youth Connections Festival and receive a $100 award. Voting ends September 30th.
